Correct the problem instead of flattening the take
A vocal with two distracting notes rarely needs the same correction on every phrase. Dhun can inspect the detected notes and apply targeted edits. Tell the producer where you hear a problem and whether you want natural correction or an obvious tuning effect.
Pitch detection is evidence, not an infallible score. Breathy passages, consonants, layered vocals and background instruments can confuse a detector. Listen to the phrase in context before treating every deviation as a mistake.
The right key is a starting point
A key or scale helps identify plausible notes, but it does not describe every musical choice. Blues inflections, borrowed chords, chromatic passing tones and modulation can all be intentional. A rigid scale snap can remove precisely the detail that makes a take work.
Share the song key if you know it, or ask for analysis and state when the song changes key. When the evidence is uncertain, an untouched phrase is better than a confidently wrong correction. A reference to the intended melody is more useful than a request for mathematically perfect pitch.
Keep natural and stylized versions separate
Fast transitions and strong correction can be useful creative effects in some pop, trap and electronic styles. They are different from a natural cleanup pass. Keep each approach as its own version so you can decide by listening rather than repeatedly processing an already corrected file.
If a result sounds robotic, return to the dry take and reduce the scope or strength of the correction. Adding reverb rarely fixes the underlying pitch artifact. Compare the end of held notes and the transitions between syllables, where unnatural movement is often easiest to hear.
Common questions
Does an off-center pitch always need fixing?
No. Pitch movement can be expression, a stylistic choice or uncertainty in detection. Use the song and the performance as the reference.
Can I make a strong tuning effect?
You can ask for a deliberately hard-tuned sound. Keep a natural version as well so the effect remains a choice.
